wash peas

combine peas, water, pepper,curry powder, onions and garlic in a deep pan.

Bring to a boil, be careful it doesn't boil over

when peas are soft, remove from pan and puree in blender. Caution contents are HOT.

In a metal ladle, heat oil and cumin seeds. Seeds will sink then float. Once they are dark brown, place them in the dal. WILL SPLATTER
