Mix first six ingredients in a bowl with a whisk. Set aside.
Heat 1/2 tbsp. canola oil over medium high heat. Add garlic; saute for about 30 seconds. Add shrimp and stir-fry for 3 minutes until shrimp is done. Remove shrimp and garlic mixture to a bowl.

Add remaining 1/2 tbsp. canola oil. Stir-fry the brocolli, onion and salt for four minutes until brocolli is crisp tender. Add shrimp/garlic back to pan along with the liquid ingredients, stirring constantly until slightly thickened.

Serve over rice or noodles.
