Time to get realistic

Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 9:48 AM filed under Diet & Nutrition postings

February wasn't that great for me. My weight fluctuated up and down, and I ended up being ill at the end of the month after a stretch when I was doing really well. In the end, my weight was about the same at the end of the month as it was at the beginning of the month. So it's time to take a step back and evaluate my goals and the methods I'm using to reach them.

While we're getting ready to buy a treadmill (yippee!), we don't have it yet and so my daily phys

Nearly ready to take on my February weight loss goal

Friday, February 1, 2013 at 9:45 AM filed under Diet & Nutrition postings

January wasn't too bad for me. I managed to lose all that Christmas weight (and OMG there was far too much of that this year; I will not let that happen again next year!). I got myself back on track and didn't let the setback get me down.

My goal for January was to lose 10 lbs, and as of this morning's weigh-in, I have lost 9.6 lbs. I'm really happy about my progress even though I didn't quite achieve my goal by the specific deadline I had set. I'm hoping

Getting back on track - January 2013 goal

Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 9:38 AM filed under Diet & Nutrition postings

Oh boy, well that was a typical Christmas season in our family! I gained an excessive amount of weight and have finally gotten myself back on track. I've lost the pounds gained in December, and am close to where I started on December 1st. I set a weight loss goal of 10 lbs for January, and I'm nearly there. I have a little less than 3 lbs to go with 10 days left in the month. Given that I'm about 10 lbs from where I wanted to be at the beginning of the month, it would be great

December 2012 Goals

Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 12:12 PM filed under Weight Loss postings

So those who have seen older posts on my blog will know that I prefer short term goals that get me closer to my long term goals. Monthly goals work well for me, as does sharing them with others who can hold me accountable ;-). I also like to have goals that aren't focussed only on weight loss.

With this in mind, here are my December goals:

  • Lose 10 lbs, which given my weight on December 1st, would bring me to 216 lbs
  • Use my Wii Fit at l

I have returned and will achieve anything to which I set my mind!

I have been away from FitClick for quite some time. Life is very good at throwing curve balls. In fact, even things you think are really good can have a negative impact on one's health. I have put myself second to the most important man in my life to help him recover from an organ transplant. Strickly speaking, his recovery ended a long time ago, but somehow I ended up in this role of sacrificing too much of myself to help him along. In the meantime, I gained weight and I lost the

Last leg toward the 2010 finish line

Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 12:40 PM filed under Weight Loss postings
Well this is it. I've got 6 weeks to go before the date I set to meet my weight loss goal for 2010. When I set off on this journey, I wasn't sure what I could accomplish or what would be a realistic goal. A few months in, I decided to strive for a 50 lbs weight loss by Christmas. That is my goal for 2010 (I hope to lose another 30 lbs in 2011).

With 6 weeks to go, I have 12.8 lbs to lose. I can do this. It just means that I need to be focused and eat well and exercise. I've g...

Just about ready to start running

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 3:39 PM filed under Diet & Nutrition postings
Boy, let this be a lesson to all of you: take good care of your back to avoid injuring it. I hurt my back a couple of months ago and I'm still feeling the effects. My left leg is still numb and after a long day of running around all over the place, I end up with a pretty significant limp. But my back feels okay. It doesn't hurt at all and so I'm slowly getting back to what I used to do before. I've done more lifting, more climbing ladders, more walking, etc. None of these have caused a...

Overcoming obstacles is the hardest part!

Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 5:20 PM filed under Weight Loss postings
About a month ago I was considering increasing my cardio fitness to be able to do some running (well, more of a slow jog given my fitness level at the time). I was pretty keen - even bought a book to do some reading on training and technique! LOL!

However, I suffered a bit of a back injury shortly thereafter. It seemed rather minor as far as back pain went, but just as I felt like I was getting better, things got worse - and by worse I mean I was unable to walk at all fo...

Could I be a runner?

Friday, August 6, 2010 at 1:41 PM filed under Exercise & Fitness postings

It seems to be coming at me from all directions lately. Everyone is talking about it. And for years, all I did was listen, nod and try to act interested, but secretly thinking they were all crazy.

But now, nearly 35 lbs lighter and with more interest in fitness, I am left to wonder: "Could I be a runner?" Let's be realistic here - this is me we're talking about. Until a year ago, I'd sooner let a bus g

Gold star for ME!

Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 12:14 PM filed under Weight Loss postings
I did it! It's taken quite some time, but I finally got under 200 lbs this morning: 199.8 lbs. I'm so excited. This goal took a long time to reach. It's a fantastic feeling to have gotten to this point - I've now lost just over 30 lbs. I love that after 7 months of effort toward becoming healthier and fitter, I am still very motivated. I am SO making this happen. One shiny gold star for me.
