I used to run marathons in the 80's but have slowly managed to gain weight to where I'm almost double what I weighed in 1982! Of course, it takes a lot of effort to carry around a whole extra person 24 hours a day, not to mention that my feet and knees hurt every day. So I started dieting, following principles in the South Beach Diet and have lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks. It's barely a start, but by paying attention to what I eat (by writing it down), and how much I exercise I hope to lose 170 to 200 pounds in the next year.
