Start out walking 15 minutes every other day, alternating between slow walk and brisk walk.

Increase to 15 minutes every day, still alternating between slow walking and brisk walking. 

When weather is bad, go to stores and/or malls and walk as much as possible; i.e.,  go shopping for 1 hour and be on your feet the whole time.
