  • My cardio today went better then expected. I walk a lap at 3.8 and run a lap at 7.5 and usually get winded at the end of the run lap. Not the case today, each lap was smooth and no gasping for air after each lap. The bounce back was shorter also heart rate back to 140 after just half a lap of walking after the run lap.

    Good question. Off the top, I would use the elliptical's readout.

    But, in my experience, if you're moderately exerting yourself (not dying, but not able to comfortably talk/laugh either), 115 calories burned/burnt per hour is a decent, informal rule of thumb.
