I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. So I am back on the wagon trying to lose weight yet again.  A little background. At my annual physical in 2006 my Doctor basically told me that I was a heart attack waiting for a place to happen and that if I didn't do something soon it would be sooner rather then later. My total cholesteral was 40 points way too high along with my LDL levels as well. It was that day that I decided I didn't want to die.
So I tried going to the gym and hated it. I tried walking and running and hated it. I dug out my bicycle and rode it around for a little and it was fun. So I started riding my bike and I made a few rides here and there but then I started running out of time to ride it. It seems like something always happened that made me miss my ride. So I decided to ride my bike to work once a week. The trip to work is 15 miles one way or 30 for the round trip.

Insanity you say, Insanity it was because it took me well over an hour just to get to work and well over an hour to get back home. I stuck with it because it was fun and it was the only way I was going to be able to fit any time to excercise into my schedule. The following year I purchased a new bike and some stuff to help me carry things on the bike like my laptop and a change of clothes for when I got to work. 3 years later and I am still riding, I am riding so much now that I decided to sell my car. My cholesteral levels are now in the healty normal ranges but I am still very overweight at 240#. As far as my heart goes my Doctor was impressed that I was able to make such a dramatic improvment but I need to get the weight off. I think my next level is now to change my relationship with food.
