How I am losing weight

Moving on Down the Road

Its been about a month, and I have lost 5 pounds.  Each day I try to stay within 1,000 calories, drink water, do aerobic exercise five days a week with one pound weight lifting.  I walk my dog three times a day for about 20 minutes, but the heat is terrible, and as soon as the weather changes I will get more enthusiam for my walks.

I have until Oct. 31st to make my goal.  I started out at 174 pounds, and just want to get to 150 or 148.  It seems like a realistic goal, but it took me 8 years to put on this weight with the problems of quitting tobacco and the weight gain there, then Katrina coming and disaster to my property, with the death of my husband of 41 years during the storm.  So I have wanted
comfort food constantly during my depression, and cooking has always been my passion.  Deciding to change my life, and go in a different direction was my choice.  However, I came to the conclusion that only one person was holding me back, ME.  I took a step forward and have found it very easy to stay within my diet plan, but I worry that I won't get there, where I want to be, but I am not giving up!! My plan includes no sugar, pasta, bread, potato, banana, rice, and nothing white except cauliflower.  Holding back on the red meat, and try to eat chicken, turkey, and fish.  No frying, just a little sautee with olive oil, lots of veggies, few strawberries for my fruit, and small apple , drinking only water, try to drink before I eat, and after I eat..not during. Most fruit heavy laden with sugar, never dried fruit..With salad only use one tablespoon of dressing. Since I am a sugarholic I cannot make it without some sort of sweet.  My choice has been a graham cracker with tablespoon of frozen cool whip on it.  This gets me through the bad times. Otherwise I have black coffee for my dessert after my meal, and so far I have been able to stay within my plan.   Since I have low cholestrol I eat eggs for breakfast. I think I have the staying power to keep to the plan, but I would like to see more change, and soon.
