Giving it a go

I found this Web site in a totally unrealted Internet search and thought I'd check it out.

Aside from the fact that I excercise daily, I'm an unlikely candidate for the site, largely because I've always found social networking to be slightly obnoxious and just plain silly.

Truly, if I really wanted to keep up with people from my past, I never would have lost them in the first place. And, for the most part, if I have to go out of my way to tell people what's happening in my life, they probably don't need to know any way.

Yeah, yeah, I know, and you're right, I am a cynic.

So, why am I doing this? Well, basically, the reason contradicts everything I just wrote --- I want to swap stories with others, better track my fitness progreess and try some things that are working for others (workouts, music, diets, plans, shoes and pretty much anything but fads. Bring it.)

Here's a summary of where I am today:

I started working out daily --- I rest on the seveth day of the week. Come on, even God took a break ---  at the end of August 2008. I slowly have built from an inactive life (20 minutes on the treadmill at 3.2 mph was a challenge at first) to being in relatively good shape.

All told, I've lost about 50 lbs. (that's a conservative guess), have gone down three pants sizes and feel incredible. 

Although it's come with a lot of stress, early mornings and good deal of muscle strains, limping and bitching, I have developed a passion for exercise. I'm up to two cardio workouts a day plus some strength training after evening cardio sessions.

No big goals, really. Maybe this site will help develop some.

That's bascially it. With that, I start my venutre into cyberspace to record my personal fitness journey on the electrons of eternity.
