I've always wanted to do a blog. Not sure if the best way to start out is on a weight loss site...but I guess this is as good a place as any. On January 14th 2009 I bought a scale. I weighed 173lbs. Yikes! What happened? I'll tell you what happened...Chipotle. It's only the most delicious configuration of chicken, rice, beans, cheese, salsa verde, and GUAC! So my goal was to lose weight.

I think once you get a taste of what it's like to drop some of those pounds it gets somewhat addicting. I've lost about 23lbs since that day, which is very exciting! I won't lie, I've used some of those weight loss methods like drinks and pills. The only reason I like some of them is because they give me energy after my long work day. Others are good because they help me feel less bloated. Regardless, I owe my success to hard work, running almost every day. I ran a 10k in May, getting under an hour (barely) and a half marathon in July getting just over 2 hours. Can I just say, after that I hated running! I don't think I have motivation to do another half marathon, or try for a marathon for that matter. SO after that, I have been attempting to run three miles as fast as I can so I don't become too impatient. I'm down to about 24 minutes.

Although I do a pretty good job of trying to go to the gym every day, my body is very stubborn and wants to stay at about 150-147. This is great! But I'm ready to make the final transformation...no more little pooch, slim down the legs, tone the arms...this means adding in strength training. The last time I did strength training was in high school...so we'll see how well I do. I want to keep up the running so muscle mass won't slow me down.

I'm going to need some motivation...and ENERGY to make it through a ten hour work day and a busy social life. Any encouragment is appreciated and advice is always welcome...good luck in your endeavors, I'll keep you posted on what happens with mine!
