Sensuality: Food

There are many ways to look at food and at eating right. One of the common ones I hear is that we should "eat to live; not live to eat." Fundamentally I think this is not a good way for me to think. I'm a sensualist. The key for me is not to reject the sensuality of good food, but to embrace it. A lovely meal that has been prepared well and plated attractively fills more than my animal appetite or my need for fuel, it is a necessary part of my internal life, which thrives on beauty and whithers without it.
However, food doesn't need to be high calorie to be beautiful. A few years ago we invested in beautiful small plates and tiny bowls that could be used to show off small portions of delicious food. I will be making use of those as we move forward into healthy weightloss.
Fruits and vegetables are nearly always beautiful in their raw or lightly prepared states. I intend to show them off and feast on their beauty as well as their flesh.
It is time to find more books on plating so that I have more resources for my mind as I go about preparing our meals.
Meditative techniques designed to help one fully taste and smell food also increase the sensuality of good food. I will look into this as well.
I look forward to making this journey not only healthy, but delicious, beautiful, and sensual as well.
