Inspirational Quote: Imperfection

"When you start to cook, as when you begin to live, you think that the point is to improve the technique until you end up with something perfect, and that the reason you haven’t been able to break the cycle of desire and disillusion is that you haven’t yet mastered the rules. Then you grow up, and you learn that that’s the game."

Adam Gopnik

Engaging fully, passionately with life, with all our imperfections, brings powerfully creative and utterly personal results. No one can truly cook from a recipe book. Good cooks bring their own skills, knowledge and passion to every dish. The recipe is merely the shell that they pour their talents into.

Similarly, living well and achieving beauty and fitness cannot be done from a book or someone else's plan. Plans are like recipes, merely empty shells we pour our passions and knowledge into. Living, eating, and moving well require engagement with one's truest self, one's own skills and knowledge to craft a life worth living, a diet worth eating, and exercise worth doing. Of course learning the basics from other people is a great way to add to the store of skills and knowledge that will eventually form the body and mind I will have in the future.
