How My Gallstones Pushed Me Into Weightloss
So they reason I joined fitclick.com was to lose weight and get fit. And the reason I'm wanting to do all that is because around three weeks ago I had to go to the hospital for bad stomach pains, which turned out to be gallstones. I asked why I had a gallstone attack the the balding and rude M.D that was oncall at E.R that night.
" Well you probably ate something greasy" he said, rather nonchalantly.
"Like what?" I asked, the pain meds they had put in my I.V were starting to work. Ahh.
" You would know. Obiviously what ever you ate a few hours ago" He sneered. Like I said before, he was rude, and he was a jerk.
"Yeah, I ate a good number of things a few hours, so is there a specific food that could of set of my attack?" I asked, there wasn't enough pain meds to keep my interest dulled.
"WELL, things that are high in fats, like ground beef, like a greasy chili, or fast food. How much did you eat?" He asked in a manner tht made me imagine my foot kicking out his teeth. Did I mention before he was a jerk?
" I ate chili" and a nutty buddy bar and some chips and some ice cream, but I only told him about the chili.
" Well there you go then, thats what did it. I don't know if you will have to your gallbladder removed, but until you see a specilist, you should avoid high fat food, beans, and maybe some veggies like cabbage and brocoli to avoid a attack. Here's a prescription to vicodin if you have another flare up before you see another doctor." I grabbed for the prescription slip, and after the nurse unhooked my I.V, I collected my husband ( he's a member here too, Aersdaddy), and walked out of the hospital with a resolve to avoid fatty foods. And I thought since I'm doing that, why not try to get healthy? With that I rode home, with a determination to lose weight, excercise more, and a the warm euphoria that can only be achieved morphine on a cold december night.
