I've been trying to figure out what would be a good diet for me, for several months in 2009.  After the holidays, 12/26/2009 to be exact, I started on a Protein Sparing Modified Fast. I started at 260 lbs and got down to 240.   My sister did really well, loosing very quickly but after a month her body resisted loosing the weight, as also my body weight slowed drastically.  But I had lost 20 pounds, took one day off from the diet, eating normally and gained 5 lbs back.  How frustrating.  I am diabetic but have kept my carbs very low and my diabetes has not been an issue at all during this time.  However, I have decided that 500/600 calories is way to low to keep my body in the burning mode.  Im going to try to stick to 900 to 1000 calories and 20 carbs or below.  My body is insulin resistant and I usually have to go lower on calories and carbs than most people do to get results.  I will see how it works for me....and adjust according to the results i see and feel.  I am now 243 as of 02/13/10...still trying to get those last 3 pounds off that i had gained from my free day. Free days can mess with your metabolism if you over do!
