A co-worker brought donuts in today.  They are in a box on a table right in front of me.  I walked past that box and raised the lid to see if they were all gone yet.  Nope 4 left.  I could smell the sugar.  All I need to do is reach in with my free hand. Hmmmm which one do I choose....... there's 1 plain glazed, 2 glazed cake and 1 glazed chocolate cake.....  all my favorites.  MMMMmmmmm a cup of coffee would be wonderful right now with any of them. Instantly I start to salivate and I can taste the yummy coffee with the yummy donut.  I lower the lid and go do what I got up to do in the first place.  Oh.. here comes someone... they take one.   It's the plain glazed.  That means there are 3 left.  My thoughts now go to the calorie content in this donut.  They aren't small.  What would I have to give up to be able to make room for this donut in my day. Eating this donut will "turn on" what ever button in my body that controls my hunger.  I know if I eat this  donut, my hunger isn't really going to be satisfied. I'm actually going to want to eat something else afterwards because somehow, somewhere, that switch was flipped to ON.  Right now I'm still good from breakfast.  I'm not struggling with hunger.  I'm actually quite content.  Do I want to ruin this feeling of contentment by eating this donut??????  I hate days where I can't satisfy my hunger.  Grazing days are killers.  I fight that all the time. mmmmmmm  I can still smell the sugar.  It's 10:20 am.  It's going to be lunch soon.  I have a very healthy fruit smoothie in the fridge which is part of my breakfast that I didn't finish.  I think I'll go grab it and finish it off.  It's quite thick and very filling and it's SWEET.  Amunition against the desire to grab a donut.
