Boy, let this be a lesson to all of you: take good care of your back to avoid injuring it. I hurt my back a couple of months ago and I'm still feeling the effects. My left leg is still numb and after a long day of running around all over the place, I end up with a pretty significant limp. But my back feels okay. It doesn't hurt at all and so I'm slowly getting back to what I used to do before. I've done more lifting, more climbing ladders, more walking, etc. None of these have caused any soreness so I feel I'm okay to slowly get back into my gym routine. I expect that this activity will also help my leg get back to normal because simply getting out and walking really helped me a great deal.

I have gained a few pounds in the last few days because I've been working at my computer day and night and not getting any exercise. I also didn't make time to go to the grocery store last weekend so during the last week I resorted to some not-so-healthy take out options. But all that is behind me now. I have freed up much of my time in the evening this week and have a stocked fridge and pantry.

It's time to get back into it. I am planning to succeed by having a plan. In order to reach my weight loss goal, I need to lose just over one pound per week between now and Christmas. Based on past successes, I know I can do that. In order to motivate myself to get active, I have registered for 2 races. The first is on December 4th and is more of a fun run - it's a 5K. That will be my first running event ever so I'm excited. Then on December 31st, I will be participating in a 10K race. I have developed a training plan, but I suspect it will need some adjustments depending on how well/poorly I progress.

I'll keep you posted!
