Specifications and specifications

Since a product labeled 5W-30 is an all-season product, its decoding must be carried out according to two standards. Winter index 5W characterizes the change in oil properties in the cold season and at negative temperatures. Summer indicator "30" allows you to determine the behavior of synthetics in the warm season and at the operating temperature of the engine.

Classification

As with other types of lubricants, the SAE viscosity performance of 5W-30 engine oil remains one of the determining factors for classification. The oil with a package of special additives not only has an optimal viscosity, but also successfully protects engines from wear and increased friction.

How to choose Engine oil 5w-30

The search for 5W-30 oil practically does not differ from the selection of lubricants of other markings. Usually you need to pay attention to the description of the following parameters:

  • the degree of wear and the resource of the engine;
  • motor type;
  • the intensity of operation, road and natural conditions in which the car is used;
  • the presence of a special additive package in the oil - to protect against oxidation, corrosion, friction and engine wear under conditions of high loads and significant humidity.

Oil tolerances are no less important in the selection. The basic standards for evaluating lubricants are the European ACEA and the American API. Leading car manufacturers also present their approvals: BMW, MAN, Volkswagen, etc.
