Oats for breakfast is a great way to lower cholesterol

I’m having a bowl of oats every morning for breakfast and snacks! I bought some quick oats to help me out, though the less processed ones eg rolled oats have slightly more dietary fibre.

I prefer them savoury rather than sweet.

  • Oats with miso soup
  • Oats boiled in hot water and wakame seaweed
  • Oats with hot skimmed milk and banana and walnuts
  • Oats with hot soya milk and raisins and walnuts

Market day - choices, choices

We went to the Sydney Markets in Flemington on Saturday. It’s been 6 months since I’ve set foot at the markets, since my accident. Now I am on a mission to eat fresh healthy food, and the markets are the best place to buy fresh produce in bulk and at half the grocery prices (cheap and worth it!!) of retail shops.

At these prices, it’s great to shop here! Now, back to cleaning all those boxes of fruits, and juicing, eating, freezing some of them…..

My year without whipped cream

This is the year I get serious about living a really healthy life. Watch me.

This year, I am giving up whipped cream, double creams, clotted creams .... any kind. I have quickly found a kind substitute in light low fat ricotta cream. Hooray!

This is the year where I will lower my cholesterol through an adventurous regime of nutritious and tasty food and enjoyable exercise. Life is an adventure to be lived, experienced and inspired. Follow me

Today is the first day of the rest of my life

This is a great way to monitor my progress and I love the tools and the sense of community here. I have pretty high cholesterol for my age (6.8) even though my weight and height are fine. This goes to show that we cannot assume that a slim(ish) person is 100% healthy and on track.

Having said that, I am highly determined to beat my high cholesterol levels with a solid diet plan and a good exercise regime. If it means spending a little more time on cooking healthy meals and choosi...
