Instructions:

Arm Scissors

This is an excellent movement for warming up the many large muscles of the chest, shoulders, and upper back.

 1. Start with your arms out to the sides and parallel to the floor.

 2. Begin moving your arms forward until they pass across each other in a scissorlike motion. Stop the motion at the point the arms cross each other at about a 90-degree angle.

 3. Immediately reverse direction and move your arms back out to the sides until they pass just beyond the plane of your body. Cease the motion at the first sign of tension in your shoulders.

 4. Continue this scissorlike motion for a total of twenty to thirty repetitions. Use a modest pace that takes one to two seconds per rep.

Safety notes: Do not swing your arms wildly, and don’t force the range of motion beyond comfortable limits.
