Abby had a soccer game at 6 last night, so I wasn't able to hook up with the Post 'n Pint group ride.  Drove out to Post Canyon to save some time...but have to admit that I was also not wanting to battle the steady hard wind on the ride out.
I unloaded the bike a bit after 5 and headed up the road, skipping the lower post trails.  I just felt like a steady burn for a warm-up.
Felt great all the way up.  Even the pull up from Seven Streams was almost effortless.  Got to Family Man and jumped onto 8-track.  Doubled back at the junction because I saw I was running short on time...it was almost 5:30 already.
Anyway, my point is that I was feeling really strong and I want to know why.  A few factors that may have contributed:
  1. Didn't work out at noon.
  2. Didn't ride out to Post from town.
  3. Ate muesli, yogurt, raspberries one hour prior.
  4. Downed a dose of BCAA's just before.
I'd say these are probably in decreasing order of importance.   Last week I felt weak.  That day, I had stupidly done a Maffetone test on the fred bike at the Sports Club in addition to a back & lats workout.   I ate my usual big ass salad for lunch, and had a rice cake w/ PB about an hour before, with a banana just before.  I rode out to Post with the group.  No BCAA's.

Next time I ride with the group, I think I'll skip the noon workout and see how that goes.
