Hidden motivation
This is more of a cry for advice! My better half and I are both military. He's been home from Afghanistan 10 weeks now - things seem normal except no gym. We went faithfully before he left & while he was gone now nothing. When I do go To the gym I rushed because I'm trying to stick to our normal routine and be home when he gets there (his 2nd mission). I gotta get him into the gym, this is stealing my motivation. Yes, I talked to him direct and indirect his 280lb 6+ just sees home security how long do I wait before I tun into a couch tater tot?

Be a good example
In my experience, being a good example works the best. I don't know if it influences the other person to take a look at themselves without feeling criticized or whether it sets off a competitive spirit in the other person or makes them feel like they're going to get left behind or brings out the spirit of teamwork or whatever else, but I get more participation from my significant other when I do as I want to be done.
