so they say
So they say the more protein the higher the calorie burn, more muscle established (burns more calories takes up less space)etc..
I find this to be true. If you want a nice lean look, more muscle showing, this seems to do the trick for me. Cut back on bad fats eat good fats. I take one scoup of chocolate whey low fat with my morning coffee and a Truvia, I think it taste like a mocha...my husband would disagree. :)
always have some protein post work out. I put my protein powder in a container I got from my sugar free lemonaid. Its just large enough to fit the scouper and then I dont have to remember it every time I go to the gym.
Lots of Tuna and salmon, lean pork loin, turkey burgers etc.. cut breads.

agree w/ above
No protein powder will help you lose weight. Increasing the % of your body makeup that is muscle vs fat will. Protein powder doesn't build muscles for you. Only resistance training does that - the heavier the resistance, the faster you break down and rebuild muscles - bigger and stronger on the rebuild. Your body uses proteins to rebuild the muscles. You don't have to get those from protein powders, you can just get it in your regular diet, but if you are an ectomorph---someone who naturally is very slim and has trouble gaining weight and has to consume an extradinary amount of calories to gain; or you just don't want to bother with cooking and balancing your diet, protein powders can be a quick and effective way to make sure you're getting enough to gain. If you're not a naturally skinny person, you probably are just as well off w/o the powders as with (but your wallet will be a little heavier).

I don't know
I don't know, I'm kinda in the middle with the Whey Protien powder. I think that it does satisfy your appetite, but the triple chocolate shake is nasty. I have not tried it right after a workout to decrease muscle soreness but I will see. I hope I can find a flavor I like because it's a good source of protein without a lot of fat and calories.

recommendation for taste
If you're looking for a good-tasting protein powder - Syntha Six Chocolate Mint is delicious. I've recommended it to several ppl and haven't had anyone dislike it yet. It's soy protein rather than whey though, I believe.

Blend it
I mix the whey protein powder with frozen fruit. Makes it more smoothie like and gets you some fruits!

Protein/Carb ratio
I dont think that the question is answered so easily. Protein powder can help your muscles recover and certainly muscles weigh more than fat. So is the desire to lose weight or body fat? i use whey protein 5 times a day with at least 60 grams of protein every time. Sometimes it is not as important to watch the scale as it is the mirror. The key to weight loss is to keep your bodys metabolism in an anabolic state for optimal fat burning. too high of a protein diet wsithout balancing your carbs may slow your metabolism down. I use the diet tracker on this site to balance my diet for designing a perfect metobolic rate.

Tested
I tested a lot of weight loss programs, pills and diets for couple of years now. Atkins diet is one example but I’m not really satisfied with it because it’s making my body weak.
I’m on Medifast Diet right now. So far I don’t feel weak like when I’m using Atkins. The caloric intake is around 800-1000 calories.
It’s a bit pricey, but there are plenty of coupons available on the internet (i.e. http://www.swoopup.com/stores/deals/Medifast-Diet ). Even if you don’t pay full price.
My advice is just choose a diet plan which your body reacts positively to. No one knows your body better than you do!
