Substitutes for pasta
I love pasta and we usually eat whole wheat but I needed suggestions on substituting this for something else with less carbs... Do ya'll know of anything?

Pasta Substitutes
I wish there was a perfect substitute for pasta (especially being Italian :) However, it is tough to find foods that are just as good with whatever sauce youre using and still give you your pasta fix. I try to use half as much pasta as I usually would and then incorporate a bunch of veggies, so that I can still have my chewy bowtie noodles. I also made the switch to whole wheat pasta. Another decent substitute is spaghetti squash with a really good thick tomato sauce (chopped mushroom, garlic, pepper, spinach, a little salt and whatever else you like). You just halve the squash put salt pepper and either a spray butter or oil on top and bake it. Once its soft you shred it out and top it with your sauce. In times of desperation I have also taken portablo mushroom caps and baked or grilled them with sauce and a little cheese on top =really low cal and its very filling. Hope this helps give you some ideas if not good luck :)

QUINOA
Reminds me of a crunchy version of cous cous, and it's great in soups.
