What is in your food?
As an avid pancake lover, I have run the gamut of mixes in the store, but lately upon noting ingredients, I saw one I couldn't recognize...called

I actually scanned each and every brand of mix, and they all contained this mystery ingredient, although I must say, the word aluminum immediately threw up a red flag. I have been concerned about alzheimers since I saw the wonderful moving, movie
Without Her

This ingredient has been proven to contribute to alzheimers. Interesting article.

Try to avoid "boxed" anything. Making pancakes from "scratch" isn't that hard to do and is soooo much healthier. Sodium Aluminum Phosphate is a leavening agent that is used in many packaged processed foods. It is hard to food dangerous ingredients when eating from "boxes". Also, remember that when you buy baking powder, make sure that it is "aluminum free."

I also stay away from gluten and that takes almost everything that comes in a box out of your shopping cart.

Most baking powder brands are made from this ingredient. Check your pantry. Chances are that if you are doing holiday baking you are adding this to your goodies. Look for "aluminum free" baking powder.

here are some links about baking powder...
