Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl, combine butter and cookie crumbs. Press mixture into 9-inch cheesecake pan. Bake for 20 minutes.

In a bowl, toss pears with ginger. Line the crust with pear slices.

In a bowl, beat cream cheese with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup of sugar; beat for 2 minutes. At eggs, one at a time; continue to mix. Stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Pour the mix of the pears. Bake until just set, about 50 minutes.

In a small bowl, combine the sour cream and remaining sugar and vanilla. Pour over cheesecake; bake for 8 more minute. Cool to room temperature. Cover and chill in refrigerator several hours before serving.
