Preheat oven to 375
Mix together bran flakes and milk and let sit for 10 minutes.
Mix egg, sugar, vanilla, and applesauce into bran mixture.
In a separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, chocolate chips and baking powder, and salt.
Stir wet mixture into dry mixture until blended.
Add to muffin tin and bake for 15-20 minutes depending on oven
Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until tops spring back when lightly tapped.
