I'm new and I need help being held accountable. I'm 25 years old and used to have a smoking bod. I've always been a little bit huskier than my friends but i was slim, healthy and muscular. I weighed 135 throughout middle school and highschool, at 5'6", that's where I wish I was now. The truth of the matter is that I've not held my self accountable since I graduated highschool. I was super active, varsity volleyball and track team. I played church league softball and had a part-time job. I was always on the go. Then I went to college. 3am pizza deliveries and frat parties with never ending fountains of beer didn't work so with my inactive lifestyle. My freshman year I gained 20 lbs, then lost it and then some during my sophomore year. Then it was a steady climb to 225, and hypertension, which is my worst weight EVER and I knew something had to give. Before when I'd "diet" i'd deprive myself of what I loved to eat, that always lead to binge eating those things, or watching the flood gates open into a bad food day. The next day I'd tell myself I'd get back on track, but I never would. I've had some tough times in the past 3-4 years emotionally and turned to food to sooth the pain. I got married a year ago in september and am disgusted and embarassed looking at my wedding photos. My husband is slim, and has a labor intensive job. I have an athletic build and currently a sedentary job in a cubicle. In July, before my vacation, I went to my doctor because I've had severe back pain for a while and was having trouble sleeping. I was given a prescription for a sleep study, told to lose some weight, get active, and take ibuprofen for the back pain. My outtake sheet the doctor gave me listed obesity as my diagnosis. I cried in my car for 25 minutes. I had let myself go. I started a food journal and learned about balanced diets and healthy portions and watched my sodium intake. I joined a brand new gym, Grand Opening - December 5th, and take the stairs more. I park 4 city blocks from my office building so I speed walk to and from my car during the week to raise my heart rate. It takes less time than usual and helps me feel a little better. My husband is a big support system, but we've been having marital problems lately. I need some further support to help me reach my goals. I appreciate this website and everyone here. It is a great place to help support and cheer on our fellow "dieters" and to help me reach my goals. I've already started with the online food journal. My current goal is to get below 200 lbs. I have a Doctors appointment in February, and as ambitious as this may sound. I'd like to be at 180lbs by then. If I get my weight under control, my doctor said she'd ween me off my Hypertensive medication. Which will be a positive step in getting my health back.
