Hello Everyone,
I'm FatMike. I'm 25 years old, and I weigh 360 lbs. Writing that makes me shudder.
You're probably wondering, "How can someone who's 25 get to 360lbs??" If you find an answer to that, please let me know.
I'm finally motivated to tame the beast. About 2 months ago my wife and I found out we're expecting our first child. Last week we had her first Dr. appt and I heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard, and I immediately got visions of being the huge dad who can't keep up with his kid. That's not what I want to be. I want to be able to play with him/her, and I want to be able to be there for him/her for as long as possible.
So here I am. I've been working out a week now and have already lost some weight, so it feels good. I should also say that I'm not the typical 360 lb guy. I don't look it at all, which is probably one of the reasons I allowed myself to get anywhere near what I am now. I mean I look fat, dont get me wrong, but I dont look like other people who weigh 360 lbs (372 when I started).
I can remember the day I found out I weighed over 300lbs. It was so depressing, and couldn't understand what had happened to me. I wish that I had reacted in a proactive way; however, I think I ended up getting a rather large fast food order. I did something similar at the 350 mark, and again at 370.
Emotional eating is one of my big problems. In addition to food, I used to turn to drugs and alcohol to handle my stress. The food, drugs, alcohol, and I were very happy together for a number of years. I then cleaned myself up, but the food issue has never really been resolved.
It's time to take charge of my life. Inside and Out. I'm not sure if anyone will be reading this or not, but I suppose I don't care. This is for me.
Also I should note that I'm kicking my own ass during this process. I'm doing P90X in the mornings and a regular cardio/strength training in the evenings. It's a lot, but I need a lot. I got the go ahead from my Dr. before starting the regimen. It's working. Lost 12lbs last week! Wish I had known about FitClick last week, would be nice to see that bar graph drop 12lbs.
