Whee!

Although I'm losing the weight slowly, I feel secure knowing that this is weight I will never put on again. My weight won't be yo-yo-ing as it would on diets (I'm on a very simple, easy to follow balanced diet.)

I'm just so PROUD of myself! I'm being so darn GOOD! Now: I know (I really do!) that down the line I will get tired of being so good and cave here and there, but that's okay - I am prepared for the rollercoaster.

I've heard that having some goals while losing weight will help to fuel the fire. One of my short term goals while working out has been to improve my endurance, but now I have a good reason to do so: first of all, my dad, who is like, some sort of superman, and can run laps around me, is a very good hiker. I'm mediocre but I live so near the mountains that we tend to go hiking a lot. I would like to be able to keep up - goal #1. Goal #2: I want to hike the west coast trail next summer. It's no Everest, but it's a tough five day hike, and I really want to have accomplished that (then I'll consider Everest!) Goal #3: I want to run a half marathon next summer!

Setting my sights high is okay, really - I have a ton of short term goals to help me get there. And I've only been doing this program for a month: I've spent years piling on the pounds and having absolutely no discipline whatsoever. Now I have an opportunity to not only look great, but to do great things. I've held myself back from experiencing so many things in life! This is the first good thing I've done and I intend to do many more
