The Sciatic Myth

Sciatic pain does not necessarily mean that the sciatic nerve is being compressed. Also, you don't have to be 70 years old to enjoy it. It has come to mean any spinal nerve compression that causes pain and tingling in the buttocks, thigh leg or foot. Sciatic pain, often associated with low back pain will in most cases resolve by itself within 4-6 weeks without any treatment. Be patient – and stay active. When the acute phase passes, start a mild to moderate back strengthening program. Be optimistic – your symptoms will improve over time.
