Three Weeks In

I'm feeling pretty great at the three week mark for several reasons.

1) While the site shows that I have only lost five pounds, I have actually lost eight pounds six ounces as of this morning! Go me!! After I did my initial weigh-in on the site, I bought  new, more accurate, and consistent scale which showed me as being three pounds six ounces heavier than my initial weigh in weight. While it was a bit of set back to learn that I had extra weight to lose then, the fact that I am ahead of my weight loss schedule nevertheless is like a double bonus!

2) Although I realize that I don't look one iota different to anyone else than I did three weeks ago, I can feel the difference! I don't know if I really can or if its psychological but I don't care. I have begun to feel as though I'm losing weight.

3) Also, I'm feeling marvelously in control of my eating. Every time that I have been faced with a choice of a food that is good for me vs. one that is not so good, I have found myself drawn to making the choice that will help me lose weight. The greatest part is that I haven't even really had any internal struggle. I think about how important it is to me to be thin and I really don't want to do anything that will derail me. I'm sure that part of the ease of the decision making is that this is all rather new and I am still excited but I know that there have been many attempts in the past to change my eating habits and I have never successfully maintained a positive attitude this long.

4) I have also followed my plan for workouts. In the past, I have started a gym program by going five or six days a week and staying for extended periods of time to do cardio and strength training each day. I quickly begin to tire of that practice and find myself making excuses not to go. This time I decided that I would go three days a week. I alternate days of 1 hour of cardio with a few machines or a half hour of cardio and the 30 minute circuit. I'm usually there for about an hour and half. While I've had a little soreness, it wasn't so extensive that I didn't want to return on my next scheduled day. This site has been really helpful because I get a little note in my news feed telling me that I haven't entered  workout in two days or three days, depending on the timing. That's enough of a push to get me moving.

I decided that I want a video record of this process to help keep me motivated so I am posting my Three Weeks In side view photo. Yuck! I just keep in mind that it won't always be this way. Also, it will feel really great to look back in six months, when my resolve is waning, and remind myself how far I've come!
