After a trip to the beach last week I came to the relization that I need to get in shape before speedo season starts. I of course would never be caught dead in a speedo at my current weight, I would get arrested for cruel and unusual punishment on the beach goers! I spent 12 years in the Army and I was always in good shape and even after I got out I stayed in decent shape. I broke my leg in 2003 and thats when the fat began to roll in and not leave! I was in my early 30's at that point and it seemed harder and harder to get motivated to go to the gym. I would always use the excuse that my leg hurt so I couldn't do this or that, which was total crap I was just becoming lazy after sitting around for 6 months in a cast. Now here I am, 10 years later and in the worse shape of my life and paying the price for it.

Week 1 - I weighed in at a unhealthy 265 lbs, the heaviest I have ever been! I have stopped drinking soda which was my arch rival as I grew up with a father who worked in the soft drink industry. I have been drinking 8 glasses of water a day and have been averaging 7-8 hours of sleep a night and I have to say I am feeling pretty good. I have started counting my calories and tracking what I eat which has helped tremendously as I, like other folks, have been an impulse eater and I would eat until it hurt! My wife and co-workers have been very supportive and believe me that helps more than people know!! Today I am strating my exercise program and I will be hurting tomorrow...lol.

I will check in next week!
