HOW TO CHOOSE A MOTORCYCLE HELMET?

Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 3:42 PM filed under Diet & Nutrition postings
A helmet is a motorcycle's little brother and the most important thing in a motorcyclist's outfit. In addition to protection against head and neck injuries, concussions in a traffic accident, a motorcycle helmet offers everyday protection against wind, rain and cold and various nuisances that a biker expects in the air - dust, insects and even birds.

Before buying a motorcycle helmet, you must decide: what type of helmet suits your needs? choose the size of the helmet correctly when buying it; Choose a color according to the color of the motorcycle or your preference. We will talk about these phases below.

Helmet design and resource

A motorcycle helmet consists of two parts - an outer shell and an inner shell. The outer shell is quite hard and strong. It makes the helmet strong and gives it an attractive look. Strong composite materials are used for its manufacture, which have a smaller thickness and negligible weight.

The shell inside the helmet absorbs shock. When driving, the motorcyclist feels comfortable precisely because of its elastic inner filling. The shell inside the helmet is a polystyrene and fabric cap. There are also foam seals, drawstrings with fasteners. The latest helmet models allow you to remove the fabric lining for washing.

How to choose the size of a motorcycle helmet?

Unfortunately, the size grid does not match for most of the different brands. That means if you currently use a size M helmet, there's a good chance when you switch to another manufacturer you might need an S or L. Also different models of the same brand can fit differently on the same head. When measuring a helmet in a store, remember the following rules:

A well-chosen motorcycle helmet should fit the head quite snugly, but without any discomfort and, most importantly, painful sensations. There must be no free space between it and the head. You should choose a model that fits every part of the head and face with as few pressure points as possible.
Sometimes it happens that the helmet fits perfectly but is too tight. This is both uncomfortable and can cause premature damage to the upholstery, so try to avoid this.
If you can remove the helmet with one hand, it's too big for you.
If the helmet tries to stay still and slips on your head when you shake your head, it's too big for you again. If you wear a properly selected motorcycle helmet and look around, it will spin with your head.
If the helmet fits your head, won't come off with one hand, rotates in sync with your head, and you've been able to walk in it for 10-15 minutes without pain - ask for a size down - until you find the smallest helmet that fits yours Head. Inside the helmet is a plastic material, accordingly, any helmet wears out over time, and the cheaper it is, the more it spreads. Take this into account when purchasing.
