October Plan

My plan for October:

1) 1000 points on FitClick (to bring me to 2100) because I'm all about points and competition.

2) weigh 165 pounds - that's about 8 pounds lost and lots of clothes will feel loose on me.

3) exercise 30 minutes every day because 30 minutes isn't much time, but has a big impact.

4) Follow my food guidelines  for calories/fat/protein/carbs because I feel better when I do.

5) Eat every 3 hours to kee...

No idea what day it is

Now that it's summer, I have a new exercise goal:  run 4 miles a day for 30 days in a row.

I just finished day 3 - go me!

Now, when I say run, what I really mean is:

part run, part walk, don't judge me because I'm old and fat and at least I'm exercising!

I didn't push myself with the running today because I also played a 45 minute soccer game moms vs. kids with my daughter's soccer team.

Day 21

At the end of 3 weeks here and I've lost 5 pounds.  This week my weight has slowly started to creep up because I am not exercising enough.

Yesterday it was 95 degrees out, which is mid-summer weather for New Hampshire and I felt horrible.  I think I'm not eating enough fat because I was tired, queasy and lethargic all day.  After I gave up and just ate more food (including guacamole) I felt better.

Day 20

I am frustrated!

I feel like I have to loose every pound twice.  I loose weight, then my cheat meal comes along and I gain a pound and it takes me several days to loose that pound again.  Then I manage to loose another pound during the week only to gain it back.

My cheat meals aren't extravagant - half a glass of wine, a piece of challah and a small dessert are not a pound worth of calories!

Day 18

It was not a banner weekend for nutritional food choices, but I did manage to keep my calories in line with my goals and I didn't do too badly.  Since Saturday morning I'm now just up .5 pound. 

Hopefully this Shabbat won't kick my dieting butt.  We're going to an amusement park that night and my plan is to eat dinner early (which for a family of 6 saves a LOT of money) and bring water, hard-boiled eggs and a couple of yummy bars to eat.  I may leave room in t...

Day 16

Man!  For the second week in a row Shabbat has kicked my dieting butt!

It's true, I eat more at dinner than usual, but I plan for it and my calorie/fat/etc. numbers aren't out of line.  I think the problem may be 1) I eat much later at night than usual - between dinner and the food at Temple after services and 2) I also am up earlier on Saturday morning than usual and therefore weigh myself a couple hours earlier on Saturdays.

Day 15

Wow - I forgot to blog yesterday.

Anyway, I'm down to 170.5, from a high of 182 in March.  Go me!  I've been drinking a lot of water and just not feeling so hungry.  I also never leave the house without a plan for what I'll be eating and/or drinking when I'm out.  I already do that for the kids so it's no big deal to start doing it for me as well.

I haven't exercised much over the past 2 days - busy and tired. Today I hope to get back on the tre...

Wow - almost 2 weeks logging everything and it definitely makes me more mindful of what I eat and keeps me on top of making sure I make time for exercise.

Today is Shavuot, the holiday where Jews celebrate receiving the 10 Commandments from God.  I took the kids to Temple this morning and didn't have anything to eat afterwards - my choices were white flour bagels, cream cheese and store bought breads (marble, lemon poppyseed, etc.).

Finally lost the pound I gained on my cheat meal (and another half as well).  That was so totally not worth it! 

I think this cheat meal (some time on the weekend) I'll just have one small but very yummy thing.  I'm thinking ice cream, but I haven't made up my mind yet.

Day 11, #2

Just a note to myself - started taking Flax+DHA today at lunch.  1000 mg, 32 mg DHA and 844 mg "ALA and other Omega fatty acids".  Will check back in a week to see if my mood has any improvement.  Committed to taking the whole 60 capsules before making any serious evaluation on its benefits for me.
